A Tribute to Geoff Hales, Travelling Theatre
Wednesday 9 December @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pmFree
An evening programme of poetry, prose and song in memory of Geoff Hales, Travelling Theatre, chosen and performed by members of the Friends of Milton Road Library and others. Book your place now.
Sadly, Geoff Hales died suddenly and unexpectedly in March. He is remembered fondly by the Friends of Milton Road Library, particularly for the entertaining seasonal programmes he created and performed over many years for our pre-Christmas event. These proved extremely popular, and so a number of extracts that Geoff himself recited are to be included, as well as others by his favourite authors. These include many traditional favourites as well as other pieces, many humorous and/or with a Christmassy theme. It is planned that the authors / composers will include:- Kipling, Hardy, Dickens, Edward Lear, Clement Clark Moore, Jerome K Jerome, Harry Graham, Flanders & Swann and Noel Coward and singing by Rex Freeman (accompanied by Rosemary Wheeler) and carols sung by some members of the St John’s College Choir.
It is also intended to raise a toast to Geoff at the end of the presentation, so we invite all those joining the event to have to hand a suitable drink (and mince pies if desired) and also to dress up a little if it seems appropriate.
