The Incredible Woman. How Women Gained the Vote & Personhood

‘The Incredible Woman’ – a short film by Karen Buczynski-Lee and Jocelynne Scutt – recounts the
work of Mary Wollstonecraft and before, to gain the vote, economic rights, rights in marriage, paid employment, education and in spinsterhood and motherhood.
Followed by a Panel Discussion Chaired by Dr Jocelynne Scutt, Barrister, Human Rights Lawyer & County Councillor, Dr Catherine Belsey, Shakespearean scholar and author, Cllr Claire Richards, educationalist and County Councillor; and Anita Maxatazo a Xhosa woman from South Africa
This film evening will provide an opportunity for discussion and debate about the fight for women’s rights, how far we have come and what lies ahead. Come share your experiences of what the vote means to you.
This talk will be at the *Milton Road Primary School Library*. Car parking is available at the school.
